Sunday, November 4, 2018

Okay, so it's been four and a half months since I've posted anything. I have been busy working on the donation dolls clothes in between taking orders for other dolls. I decided to concentrate on only four for this year. I am mostly finished sewing the clothes, they just need velcro and decorations. Now comes the fixing and decorating of the cases. I am looking for wallpaper.....do you know how hard it is to find wallpaper anymore? Went to my local Menard's and they don't carry it any more. I think the only place that carries it would be the specialty stores.....paint and wallpaper. I have a couple of rolls here, but they are not what I'm looking for, although one I do have, I might be able to doctor up with chunky flower stamps or stencils. It is a linen look, so maybe a soft dusty pink and olive green would look okay. I want something pretty, but not too busy. I still have about a month to figure it out. 😊

Here is what each doll will be getting with it....

  • 1 Fancy dress
  • 1 Casual dress
  • a blouse and skirt set
  • a leggings and tunic set
  • a pants and T shirt set
  • a nightgown with matching slippers
  • a coat with mittens
  • a pair of socks
  • a pair of tennis shoes (they turned out awesome!)
  • a pair of black Mary Janes
That's what I have so far, but I want to add a summer outfit, a pair of sandals, various hair barrettes and headbands, and maybe a knitted sweater dress.
I will get some photos when they are finished. I hope they will make 4 little girls very happy!

Meet my donation dolls!

Hey everyone! I finally took pictures of my dolls for donation project. There are 11 of the Disney My First Princess dolls and 1 jointed Anna doll. I also snagged a Disney Animators Cinderella doll, by she is for me to make clothes to put up for sale on Etsy.

On to the introductions.....

15" Cindy, 13" Cindy, and two 15" Meridas

13" Anna, Jointed Anna, 15" Rapunzel, and 13" Rapunzel

15" Belle, 15" Aurora, 13" Ariel, and 15" Snow
Of course, as with all previously loved dolls, their hair was knotted (especially Rapunzel's) and some had marks on their bodies. With a good bath and a lot of patience, they are good as new. I have thought about trying to remove their "panties" paint and replace it with something more delicate....flowers, hearts, and polka dots, in pastel colors. I will have to do a discreet test to make sure the acetone doesn't melt the plastic body. I am still hoping to get Jasmine, Tiana, Mulan, Pocahontas and maybe Tinkerbell.

I have also gotten a few cases for them.....I have four cases from Mattel Teen Trends dolls, a case for cassette tapes, another storage case (probably for photos) and two new cases from JoAnn's. All but the new cases will get a wallpaper makeover, inside and out.

About a month ago, I purchased the new pattern for 14" dolls from Simplicity #8574,
hoping to make clothes for the Wellie Wishers dolls or the Hearts for Hearts dolls. I got quite a few cut out, sewed a dress, a T shirt, and a pair of leggings up. They were way too big for these intended dolls, BUT, they fit the 15" My First Princess dolls perfectly! Woohoo!!! So now I have a pattern to use, as well as many vintage 14" and 16" clothing patterns. I think my mother (who hasn't sewn in years) is getting interested in making some clothes for these girls. 😲

I have a Pinterest board where I'm collecting clothing ideas and case inspirations for this project. This is going to be so much fun!

My Donation Project update

I got a Merida! I gave her a day at the spa and a haircut....now she sorta has the Shirley Temple thing going on. But she is adorable!
I was thinking *I know...not always a good idea* about removing the "panties" paint from these girls with Acetone, and then doing a pretty design in pastels.....hearts, flowers, maybe even use some nail decals and then sealing them. I just don't know which one will be my lab rat. 🐀

I also got a Cinderella made by Playmates. She has rotatable hands and a bit of a different shaped body. Her feet are a touch bigger, but she should be able to get a few pairs of shoes of her own.

I just won an Anna today on eBay. She is fully jointed...knees, elbows, hands and *I think* her feet. I understand she is supposed to ride a horse and have seen them for sale together, but I think donating a doll with her horse is a bit too big. 😲 I am hoping she will be the same size as Cinderella or around the same size as the rest of them.

I started a new Pinterest board for the girls. I am collecting case designs, clothing ideas, and my doll wants.....Elsa, Mulan, Pocahantas, Jasmine (really want one of her), Tiana and maybe even a Tinkerbell. Of course, I love the Animator dolls too! But they are yet a different size!

Have fun everyday, Stacy

Spring cleaning so no time for dollies..

😢
On the bright side, cleaning my sewing room has uncovered a lot of fabric I'd forgotten that I have! 😏

And with those discoveries, comes inspiration as to what to make with it. A beautiful glitter dotted chiffon would make a gorgeous Grecian style gown for Curvy Barbie. A piece of white silk dupioni would make a sweet wiggle dress for the 17 inch Dreamtopia Barbie or my new Frightfully Tall Draculaura. 😲 She is going to be fun to dress! And the shoes, I can't wait to make her some shoes and boots!

I have been making footwear for various dolls for over 18 years now....WOW....eighteen years! I started with Gene, and then added Tyler Wentworth and Cissy. Some of the other dolls I have made shoes for are Chrissy, Velvet and Cinnamon, CED dolls, FM's Diana and Kate, just to name a few.

I will close it down for now.....take care! Stacy

My new pet project.....My First Princess toddlers

It all started when I bought a few of these girls off eBay. I (in my ignorance), thought I was getting some of the Disney Animators dolls. Now I know better. 😏 These are the "My First Princess" toddler dolls by Jackks Pacific.
Little Cindy, Big Rapunzel, and Little Anna.
Rapunzel's hair was a rat's nest and took
me about an hour to brush out. 😵

After my first purchase, I found a couple more at my local Goodwill store. So now I have, in the larger size, Cindy, Ariel, Aurora, Rapunzel, Belle and Snow. And in the smaller size I have Cindy, and Anna.

What I plan on doing with these sweet girls is, after they are given a bath and a day at the spa, I am going to make each a small collection of outfits including shoes, hats and accessories, and then donate them to the Salvation Army at Christmas time for little girls holiday gifts. 🎄🎁 I think every little girl, no matter what economical hardships they might find themselves in, should have a beautiful doll with a wardrobe of clothes to wear. 👗👕👜👟🎀

If anyone has some of these dolls they would like to donate, I would be willing to pay for the shipping costs (First Class shipping) to get them here. Just email me at dragon92768@yahoo.com to discuss the issue. 💌✉

                                      **************************

Another interest drawing my attention right now is the Frightfully Tall Monster High dolls. I have had a potential customer ask if my Endless Hair Barbie clothes would fit the MH gals....I don't think they will. I am going to buy one next month so I can make them some clothes....and shoes!!!! 👠👡👢....I'm so excited! 😆😂 I have a few of the "normal" sized girls, but they won't help much.

                                        **************************

I am still working on the second batch of free patterns for the Curvy Barbie. Tweaking here, tucking there, making them perfect! BOLO for them soon. 😍

See you soon! Stacy

Working on new patterns for Curvy Barbie and a few tips

I am currently working on some more patterns for the Curvy Barbie. Yes, they will be posted here for free! I just love free stuff!
This time I will have pull-on pants and skirts, shorts and three tops.... a peasant blouse, a raglan sleeved T shirt and a V-neck T shirt.
I drew up my trial patterns tonight and will be testing them and tweaking them until I am happy with the fit. Then it is just a matter of drawing them on the computer and posting them. 😆

I do have a tip for you all.....look to your thrift store for clothes that have great prints for doll clothing. I have found some great fabrics that you cannot get in the conventional fabric store. They are also a gold mine for lightweight silk fabrics (at least my local stores are). Look in the ladies blouses....there is plenty enough fabric for Barbie clothes and the range of colors are staggering! I just throw my finds in the washer, yes, I said washer, the dryer too. Silk is a pretty hearty fabric, but if you nervous, you could hand wash them. Happy hunting! Stacy

Just a quick post with the pictures of the tennis shoes for the 17 inch Barbie doll.

I was thinking about putting a little nail decoration on the outside ankle...just a thought!

Been busy making clothes for the 17 inch Dreamtopia Barbie doll

I am really loving these 17 inch Dreamtopia Barbie dolls! Especially since Mattel is offering her for 12.99 each right now!

I had one, a Caucasian one, but bought two more, another Caucasian one and an African-american one (plus two Curvy Barbies), all for only 40 bucks! Woohoo!

I've made some patterns for her and am perfecting them before offering them for free here on my blog. I have these outfits currently up for sale on Etsy.com right now....just click on the picture if you are interested in  purchasing them.

White eyelet sundress
Tropical print sundress and crocheted sun hat

White Henley T shirt and Jeggings

Peasant print sundress and crocheted sun hat

Retro print sundress and
crocheted shawl
Striped T shirt and
purple leggings

White T shirt and pink leggings

White Princess gown ensemble

I made some shoes for them, but they got scattered. I did manage to put away the ones that go with the white princess gown, so they are included in the sale.

I just finished two pairs of tennis shoes for them, they are so cute, I need to get pics! (My next post!)

I want to make some boots, pumps, espadrilles, sandals....lots of ideas. I used to make shoes for Gene, Tyler, Tiny Kitty, Diana, Kate, Crissy, Velvet and Cinnamon just to name a few, but sort of exhausted the market for these dolls.

Well, that's all I have for now....see you soon!

Free patterns for Curvy Barbie

Wow....it only took me 4 years to get my stuff together... LOL!

I am currently in LOVE with the Curvy Barbie doll. I have had my beautiful blonde since they came out, but didn't have the time to concentrate on her. But now I do, as well as her big sister, 17 inch Dreamtopia Endless Hair Barbie, and her even bigger sister, 28 inch Best Fashion Friend doll.

Free patterns are coming for all of them, just be patient with me. I have to draft them up, test them, redraw them (if necessary) and re-test them, until they are perfect! I will offer patterns of various difficulties, from beginner to advanced, but unfortunately, they will not have assembly instructions.

Having made clothes for myself (a plus sized lady), I can relate to Curvy Barbie's beautiful shape.

Here are the patterns....

And here are what they look all stitched up....

this is the strapless bodice sewn to the fitted skirt

this is the basic bodice and the fitted capris

the undies!

Look out Vic's Secret!
Yes.....the clothes are pinned on (I'm so lazy!).

I would love to see your results using my patterns. I'm a newbie to blogging, so I'm not sure how to do that. I would also like to know what you all would like in patterns. I guess you can let me know in the comments section :)

I hope you enjoy sewing for Curvy Barbie!
